How to use

Convenient way to edit text files on the go. First textbox, use this textbox to name the file to be saved. The file name must include the “/” or “forward slash” at the start of the file name to save in the app folder. If not, the file is saved without a sub folder in the app folder. As of Android 11 updates July 2022 the app folder is not accessible without a USB cable and computer to view the app folder, rooting the device is NOT required. To fix the problem when the file is saved in the app folder with or without the forward slash or to edit notes in a 3rd Party App, the fix is to:

  1. Attach your mobile device to a laptop or desktop computer and navigate to the local storage of the mobile phone. Check if your android device is on Transfer Files setting and not set on the USB Charging Only setting to see your device on the computer. Refer to genuine Android documentation for instructions.
  2. Navigate to *phone internal storage* "Android\data\appinventor.ai_vincenttulleners.TextEditor\files"
  3. The notes you have saved should be in this folder for editing.

The process is similar for Mac and Linux computers.

File names must also have the appropriate extention eg: ".txt" for text files, ".csv" for comma-separated values files and ".java" for java files. The extension is included after the name of the file to allow the saved file to be opened in 3rd Party apps with the following file name structure:

/name_of_file.txt

Horizontal Scrollable Toolbar, contains:

  1. open
  2. about
  3. save
  4. delete
  5. clear
  6. +
